This is just one more reason that American’s must take this country back and reduce the size of Government. Were are quickly approaching tyranny. Read on!
Illinois (The Gaslamp Post) Credit to Gaslamp Post reader Jenn, for this story - A married couple who was with child received the scare of their life, when a man who had yelled at the husbands pregnant wife, produced a gun. Mrs. Nicole Thurmond was just a week from her delivery date when she was confronted by a man who was behind her in an express line at a Walmart in Oswego, Il. one recent Sunday.
According to Mrs. Thurmond, ”I felt someone close behind me. He started being really rude and said, ‘Don’t you know how to count? You are holding up the whole store.’“
At this point, Jason Thurmond, Nicole’s husband, had returned to the line with some eggs. He noticed his wife was visibly upset. “There was a guy in her face, yelling at her,” Mr. Thurmond said. As the man aggressively approached the couple, Mr. Thurmond pushed the man back. It was at that point that the man produced a handgun and pointed it at them.
“In an aggressive manner he steps toward me, and I just push him back to keep him away from my wife and myself, and before I knew it I just froze because he pulled out a gun,” said Mr. Thurmond. Fearing for the life of her unborn child, Mrs. Thurmond turned her back to the man, anticipating that she would be able to protect the baby with her body.
“At one point I turned by back to him, because I was afraid if it did go off, at least it hits my backside and not in the front where my baby is,” said Mrs. Thurmond.
What Mr. and Mrs. Thurmond did not know, was that the man who was holding them at gun point, was an unnamed, off-duty, Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy. At no time prior to producing his gun, did the man who had confronted them, produce his badge or identify himself as a police officer. He is reported to have asked the couple if they were on welfare, according to Mr. Thurmond.
Mr. Thurmond was arrested and taken into custody, charged with misdemeanor battery after admitting that he had shoved the officer. Mr. and Mrs. Thermond have since filed an official complaint with the Sheriff’s department. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Department released a statement, saying that the incident is under an “internal” investigation, in order to determine if the actions of the off-deputy “are consistent with the rules and regulations of the Sheriff’s Office,” (with respect to harassing and pulling a gun on a married couple in Walmart, of course).

i’m curious to see how this one plays out. not saying all cops are bad, but i find it a little ironic that i am reading on a daily basis about police abusing their power.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for posting! I hear you, not all cops are bad – in fact the vast majority are very honest and consider their shield an honor. This blog honors ALL who serve and have served, and we celebrate patriotism every chance we get.
Unfortunately though, as you said there are those who take advantage of their authority. This is something I feel that is necessary to expose. I have an entire catagory dedicated to it.
Holy Crap, I was just emailed another cop story.
