Texas (Naxiely Lopez-The Brownsville Herald) – A U.S. Border Patrol agent is expected to face intoxication assault charges today after being involved in an alleged drunken wreck that sent one man to a hospital in critical condition early Sunday morning.

McAllen police arrested Adrian Parada Jr., 27, after he struck a vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Tenth Street and Nolana Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Joel Morales of the McAllen Police Department said.

The vehicle impacted by Parada’s vehicle struck a third car — a McAllen Police unit, Morales said. Emergency personnel transported the driver of the first vehicle that was hit by Parada to a hospital, where he remained in serious condition Monday morning.

The police officer inside the unit was also transported to a hospital, but his injuries were not deemed life-threatening.
