West Virginia – (Rusty Marks-The Charleston Gazette) – Bar patrons apprehendeda suspect Monday night after he allegedly tried to rob a Sissonville restaurant and a bar.
John Columbus Beane II, 58, of Sissonville, allegedly walked into Husson’s Pizza in Sissonville about 8 p.m., pointed a .410 shotgun at the employees and tried to get into the cash register, according to Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. Beane was allegedly wearing a ski mask and white sunglasses.
Crosier said Beane apparently couldn’t get at the money and left. But he allegedly showed up at Linda’s Sports Bar about 30 minutes later, still wearing the ski mask and sunglasses.
Beane allegedly pointed the shotgun at the bartender and demanded cash. A patron soon came after Beane, and other bar patrons joined in to wrestle the shotgun away, Crosier said. Bar customers held Beane until deputies arrived.
Crosier said Beane allegedly told deputies he was looking for money to support a prescription drug habit.
Beane was charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault in the commission of a felony. He was in the South Central Regional Jail on Monday in lieu of $100,000 bond.
