Misissippi (Ruth Ingram-The Clarion Ledger) – A Jackson Police Department detective is charged with felony child abuse following the death Sunday of a 1-year-old baby.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green said officers were called to the University of Mississippi Medical Center at about 2:41 p.m. “in reference to unknown injuries to a 1-year-old child.”

They found Aubrey Brown of Jackson “had injuries to her abdominal area,” Green said. The child died at UMC at about 4:30 p.m., she said.

Police arrested Natyyo Gray, 36, who is assigned to the department’s vice and narcotics unit, Green said.

No other details of circumstances surrounding the child’s death were available.
The cause of Aubrey’s death will be determined after an autopsy is conducted.

Charges against Gray could be updated pending the autopsy results, Green said.
