Kentucky (Courier-Journal) – A burglar was seriously injured in a battle over a gun after breaking into a Shepherdsville home Sunday morning, Shepherdsville Police said.
Sgt. Troy Armstrong, who said the incident was called in just before 11 a.m., said a woman returned to her home in the Sycamore Bend with her two boys to find the burglar inside. Armstrong said they struggled over a shotgun owned by the woman.
The two were still struggling as they went out the front door and into the driveway when the burglar was shot, Armstrong said. He said the homeowner recalled feeling a tug, then hearing the shot.
Armstrong, who would not release names Sunday evening, said the burglar was shot in the head and taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville with life-threatening injuries. He said no charges have been filed and detectives are still investigating.
Those with information on the case are being asked to call Shepherdsville Police at (502) 957-1001 or the anonymous tip line at (502) 215-1588.
