Wisconsin (LaCrosse Tribune) – A Mondovi man faces felony drunken driving charges after crashing his car into a float in a local Christmas parade.

According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department, Gary Jenson fled after crashing his Dodge Neon into a float carrying several small children during the Small Town Christmas Parade Saturday night in Mondovi.

Jenson, 52, was stopped about a block away by a witness who detained him until deputies arrived.

He was arrested and referred to the district attorney for charges of seventh offense OWI and hit-and-run. No one was injured in the crash, according to the sheriff’s department.

Court records indicate Jenson was convicted of fifth or subsequent OWI in 2002 and again in 2007. In the last case he was sentenced to three months in jail and three years on probation.
