Man Hunted Down, Killed Sex Offenders

Washington State (The Gaslamp Post) – Police believe that two dead sex offenders were hunted down.  Their alleged killer, Patrick Drum, 34, is believed to have held a vendetta against sex offenders in general, when he struck the two down early this month.

A man convicted of first-degree child rape, Jerry Wayne Ray, 56, was found dead last Sunday morning.  Police later found a vehicle rented by Drum abandoned on a rural road, which contained a hand written note apologizing for Ray’s murder.  It stated simply that Drum hated sex offenders and that, “it had to be done.”

During a 3 hour-long manhunt in some nearby woods, police also discovered evidence which let to another murder; that of Gary Lee Branton, 28.  Branton, also a convicted sex offender, was also Drum’s reported roommate.  Branton is believed to have been killed the day prior.

Drum is reported to have been cooperative with authorities, and admitted that he killed the two because they were sex offenders, according to  He said that he had planned to travel to Jefferson County, where he had hoped to find and kill another.

Drum faces 2 counts of aggravated first-degree murder, burglary, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
