Washington State (The Gaslamp Post) – A burglar suffered some disfiguring injuries but is expected to survive after he was shot in the face while coming through a window.  The shooter, a 21-year-old resident of the home, took aim with his shotgun and opened fire as the burglar came in this past Tuesday.

According to KIRO-TV, the burglar had attempted to enter the home around 6:00 pm and was shot at that time.  The burglar, whose name has not yet been released, badly bloody, had staggered to another home just a few doors down and attempted to break into it in order to hide from police.

As luck would have it, the residents of that house were home as well.  Police responded to the shooting and sent the accused to the hospital for treatment.

Neighbors say that the young man’s actions sent a powerful message to any would-be burglars out there.  “I think that if the guy’s going to break in through his window and try to steal something,” said Samantha Thompson, a neighbor.  “If he’s in his home and he feels endangered that he should be able to do self-defense.”

The accused burglar is expected to be booked into Pierce County Jail upon his release from the hospital.
