Florida (The Gaslamp Post) – An Orlando father was sentenced to three years in prison and two years probation for his role in what is being called a stand off with police, where he used his baby as a human shield.  Bobby McCormick, 32, was sentenced yesterday after a final witness was called in to testify about his character.

He reportedly is receiving credit for 142 days already served.

According to reports, McCormick left an apartment with his baby in February after he had punched and choked his girlfriend as she held their 4-month-old child.  Police found McCormick and the baby a short distance away.  When confronted by police, McCormick reportedly placed the baby in front of him and told the police to shoot.

Police were able to safely get the baby away from McCormick and reportedly had to wrestle him to the ground.  The baby was unharmed.

McCormick was found guilty yesterday of child abuse and resisting arrest without violence.
