Happy Birthday America!

The United States of America (The Gaslamp Post) – Happy Birthday America.  On this day 236 years ago, our founders took a stand against tyranny and declared that they were no longer subjects of oppression.

Although 56 members of the Continental Congress eventually signed the document, only 2 individuals signed it on July 4, 1776.  President of the Continental Congress John Hancock and Secretary Charles Thompson put themselves at risk of being hanged for treason to the crown, by being the first to sign the declaration which was printed and sent to King George III.

Today we remember our brave founders who foresaw the potential greatness of the experiment we call, “We The People.”

As we reflect today on what it means to be free, we must also realize that liberty is not something to take for granted.  Each and every American must be involved in patriotism.

We must all take responsibility to ensure that our way of life is preserved now and for generations to come.  When we exhibit patriotic acts of kindness and demonstrate that we are concerned about our fellow countrymen, we reinforce that mindset and instill a sense of responsibility within each other.

By assuming this responsibility ourselves and keeping it out of the hands of our government, the way it was indented to be by our founding fathers, we the people take our nation back.

236 years of freedom and liberty is not long enough for this experiment to have run its course.  We must all stand together, set aside our differences, and see the bigger picture that no matter what perceived differences we may have; first and foremost we are all Americans.

God Bless America, and God Bless you all.  Happy 4th of July my brothers and sisters.
