Rape Victim Faced Jail Time Because She Spoke Out Against A Justice System That Did Her The Same.

Posted on July 25, 2012

Kentucky (The Gaslamp Post) – A 17-year-old girl was outraged after she found out that her two rapists were allowed to plea bargain and she was barred from talking about it.  Barred from speaking about exactly what punishment was, the victim, Savannah Dietrich, 17, was originally unable to state exactly what her rapists’ punishment was.

Young Ms. Savannah Dietrich, 17, rape victim who is not willing to admit defeat. She was threatened with jail time when she found out that the system tried to screw her too.

That was, until she called the system on it’s own BS and was then threatened with jail time.

The two rapists found guilty on June 26, 2012, were eventually outed by Dietrich when she had finally had enough and blasted them on twitter.

They pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse and misdemeanor voyeurism.  Ms. Dietrich was unaware of the plea bargain until the end of the trial.

“There you go, lock me up. I’m not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell,” said Dietrich in her online declaration.

Austin Zehnder and Will Frey, both found guilty of their crimes but charged as juveniles were given what Ms. Dietrich called “a slap on the wrist.”  While she is not only left without being delivered her due justice, she had been told by an elected judge not to talk about it.

Jefferson County District Court Judge Deanna McDonald reportedly presided over the case.

Ms. Dietrich waived her right to anonymity as a minor and decided to bravely come forward in order to expose what any other individual would call injustice on a grand scale.  When she did, her rapists’ attorney demanded that she be held in contempt of court, an offense which could land her in jail for 180 days and a $500 fine.

Zehnder and Frey admitted to taking turns raping Dietrich while she was unconscious after drinking and passing out at a party back in August 2011.  They had taken numerous photos of the incident and had passed them around while bragging about it.

Dietrich didn’t find out about the circulating photos for several months, after an innumerable number of people had viewed them.   “For months, I cried myself to sleep.  I couldn’t go out in public places,” she told the Clarion-Ledger, as her father and attorneys sat nearby.  “You just sit there and wonder, who saw (the pictures), who knows?”

“So many of my rights have been taken away by these boys,” said Dietrich, who waived confidentiality in her case to speak to The Courier-Journal.

Her parents also gave their written permission for her to speak with the newspaper.  “I’m at the point, that if I have to go to jail for my rights, I will do it,” she said.

“If they really feel it’s necessary to throw me in jail for talking about what happened to me … as opposed to throwing these boys in jail for what they did to me, then I don’t understand justice.”

Once this story went global, the guilty party’s attorneys dropped their motion for a contempt of court.  When the lights turn on the roaches scatter, amazing isn’t it?

David Mejia, an attorney for one of the teens, said given that the story has gone global because of a piece Saturday in The Courier-Journal, there was no reason to continue the contempt motion.

“What could contempt do now?” Mejia said in an interview, adding that the boys’ names have already been circulated far beyond the original tweet. “Seems like a rather useless exercise doesn’t it?”

Author’s note:  This story disgusts me, first off as a father and second, as a tax-payer.  If two little a-holes took advantage of one of my kids while they were passed out, let alone PHOTOGRAPHED IT, they’d be dead – end of story.

How this little girl’s father had the fortitude to not explode and hunt those two little punks down is mind-boggling.  But then again, I’ve never been in that position.

And this poor little girl, all I’m thinking about is how she woke up the next day knowing something happened and tried to keep it to herself, only to find out that after months of suffering silently, that footage was being passed around of it happening.

Ladies, NEVER BE SILENT about such a thing!

Nothing would please me more than to find out that these two $&!%-stains wind up in general population somewhere, and the real tough guys find out that they’re rapists.  However, based on the information on this story, they’re pretty much getting a cake walk.

I can’t believe this, two guy went to trial over this, had PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence of them in the act, and they’re not being tried as adults?  They didn’t steal a bike or spray paint graffiti America, they RAPED a girl!

So what now, another two a-holes are going to go ahead and do this to some other poor girl knowing that they’re going to get away with it?  And on top of it, know that the girl will be ORDERED by a judge to not speak of it?

How assbackwards is that?

Where’s the justice for Savannah?  What the hell was this judge thinking?  A Woman judge, a WOMAN JUDGE presided over this case and not only allowed the rapists to plea bargain (even AFTER seeing the photos of two guys raping an unconscious girl), but told the VICTIM that she couldn’t talk about it.

You have woman’s advocacy groups and rape support groups telling women everywhere that they should not feel ashamed or live in fear of reprisal because they didn’t do anything wrong and that they should speak out, and this JUDGE tells the girl to shut her mouth?!?!?!?!  Or face JAIL TIME?!?!?!?!

This judge who to me, for all practical purposes is a total judicial activist, is legislating from the bench.  Last time I checked, it wasn’t the judiciary’s responsibility to create the laws or order people’s constitutional rights to speak, to be stripped because they said so.

If ever there was a need to boot a judge from the bench, this one is a prime example, complete with bells, lights, and whistles.

Now that being said, with as bad as this whole story has been, we have to remember that we can’t focus on just an aspect or two of this story; there’s another part to it.

We can’t forget that the victim was 17 years old, had been drinking, and had drank herself to the point of passing out.  Let me stop you right now if you think for one second that I’m blaming the victim, I am not.

What I am going to do is point out the obvious risk of participating in this sort of activity.

The cop-out would be to say that kids have been doing this since the beginning of time and will continue to do so, but that’s not the truth.  Kids DO tend to get into mischief when left to their own devices and to me, that’s all the more reason to be on top of what our kids are doing.

They should also be made aware of the fact that there are predators out there who live solely to exploit others for their own personal gains, whatever those said gains may be.

Girls, have a seat, you may not like what I’m about to say – but maybe I can get you to think.

I realize that today the general consensus is that a female can do whatever she wants, she has every right to partake in whatever activity she wishes to and as far an extent as she so chooses.

Consequences?  What are those?  Get a disease?  Go get your free prescription.  Get knocked up?  Go get a discounted, tax-payer funded abortion – or get public assistance and free college.  Want to go after baby daddy for child support?  They’ll probably give you a lawyer for free and stick someone else with the cost.

Ladies, whether or not you realize it, YOU are the cornerstone of our society.  Once our women are ruined, we are truly done for.

This is no secret, even the Romans knew this.  It is how they destroyed societies of the lands they conquered.  They corrupted the women and destroyed the people’s culture by kicking that foundation out from under them.

A society’s women are their backbone.  Unless they have the ideals of the society in which they live, it will all crumble.

How so, you ask?  Very simple, how a society treats it’s women is a direct reflection of how they are as a people.  Nope sorry Gandhi, its not animals, it’s the women.

There was a time in the not-so-distant past where a man was expected to open a door for a lady.  Believe it or not, there was a time when a guy stood up when a woman approached his table, and he dared not speak to you without removing his hat, first.

I remember a time when in order to speak to a member of the opposite sex, you had to choose your words carefully.  There were some words that you did not use in front of a lady.

Girls, that’s called respect.  You used to have it, but something happened.

Now a days, girls are out creepin’ and looking for their hook-up.  Girls are making sex videos and putting them up on the internet (yes, teenagers too, I found out from my 15-year-old).  They go out and go after slobs who can’t form a complete sentence, pull their pants up, eat with their mouth closed, and losers who expect YOU to foot the bill.

Remove their hat for you?  Out of the question; the morons you think you’re chasing wouldn’t bother to remove their backwards ball cap in order to sit down and eat at a restaurant.

Why would they?  They don’t have to, they know if they just appease you, you’re going to spread your legs for them anyways.  Do we not remember the first law of economics?  People are only going to do what they have to in order to get what they want.

And then I see women, these single mothers frothing at the mouth, bashing their children’s father because he somehow disappointed them.  Maybe they were late picking the kid up, or hasn’t seen the child in awhile.  Perhaps he’s a deadbeat and hasn’t paid for his children or he’s a bum or a drunk.  The list goes on and on.

Ladies, he was a BUM when you met him, what makes you think he would change?  He couldn’t be bothered to take his hat off for you and you screwed him anyway.

If you have a daughter, chances are she’s going to repeat the same thing you did.

That’s INDEPENDENCE??????  Unfortunately, many of you don’t see it until it’s too late.  Have you ever watched Maurry, the baby daddy episodes?  Yeah…  Don’t be that girl!

Now do you get it?

As society crumbles around us, keep something in mind; if we are to turn this around we need YOU to want to turn it around.

If you don’t expect more of your potential mate, and no I’m not saying be a gold-digger, I’m saying respect, then we are doomed as a society.  The easier you are, the less we have to achieve in order to get that wonderful va-jay-jay of yours.  It’s the domino effect.

You think you’re being free and exercising rights that women before you weren’t able to, but if you think about, what rights did guys have that you did not?

Rights are great as long as you also realize that with them comes responsibility.  You have a right to own a firearm (providing you’re not a felon or in a mental hospital) but you don’t leave it laying in the driveway.  One has the right to buy ground beef, but you don’t load your pockets with it and walk through a junk yard in front of the dogs.  Someone may also wish to drink, but doing it to excess and passing out around others may also not be the best idea.

Girls, demand respect.  If you don’t, then America is done.

Savannah, hang in there sweetheart.  You are more brave than alot of men I know.  Demand that justice be served.
