Colts Training Camp: Reggie Wayne Reports For Duty In Style

Indiana (Mike Chappell-IndyStar) – Maybe Reggie Wayne’s post-NFL career will include singing telegrams. The Indianapolis Colts’ veteran receiver has few peers when it comes to delivering messages in stylish manner.

Saturday morning, Wayne’s latest communiqué was preceded by a convoy of three Humvees and included seven members of the Indiana National Guard.

Wayne, wearing military fatigues, climbed out of one of the camouflaged Humvees and snapped to attention.

“Reggie Wayne, reporting for duty!”

He saluted, grabbed his backpack and walked a few brisk paces before being slowed by media as players reported to Anderson University for the start of training camp.

There was purpose behind the grand entrance.

“I don’t want people to look at this like it’s a joke, a gimmick,” Wayne said. “I fully support our military and I’m taking a page out of their book. I want our team to take a page out of their book. These guys are what you call true heroes.
