Thanks, But No Thanks Mr. President. University Turns Down President Obama After He Expected Them To Shut Down 200 Classes For His Campaign Speech.

Virginia (The Gaslamp Post) – Yes, this really happened.  Democratic leaders and campaign workers for the president were recently denied two venues on the campus of the University of Virginia.  University officials had declined the request of the use of two locations on campus which would be expected to hold between 5,000 and 10,000 participants.

Their decline was based upon the degree of which the student body’s studies and academics would be interrupted.

After being offered another venue on campus for which the president could use for his campaign speech, the president’s campaign stated that the alternative location wasn’t, “academic enough.”

The president’s visit, which is scheduled for Wednesday, has not yet been “officially” turned down, according to WVIR-TV.

According to university officials, their hesitation to disrupt their campus was only fair, as they would have to make the same accommodations for Governor Romney if he were to make the same request.
