Not In My Courtroom: Judge Refuses To Grant Female Names To Males Seeking Sex-Changes

Oklahoma (The Gaslamp Post) – A judge out of Oklahoma County is making quite a name for himself after he has repeatedly denied men who are planning a sex-change operation, their petitions to change their identities to female names.  Two such cases have found their way in front of District Judge Bill Graves, and in both instances he has flat out denied their requests.

Oklahoma County District Court Judge, Hon. Bill Graves

Citing personal beliefs as well as his intention to protect the general public from potentially falling victim to a person with a female’s name – who isn’t actually a female.

He wrote it could result in someone unwittingly marrying a person “who appeared to be of the opposite sex but was actually of the same sex.”

He wrote it also could hinder crime investigations — causing police officers searching for a male based on DNA evidence to ignore a potential suspect the officers believed was female.

He wrote it also could let someone circumvent the state’s prohibitions against same-sex marriage.

He is also standing by his decision for logical reasons.

“To grant a name change in this case would be to assist that which is fraudulent,” Graves wrote. “It is notable that Genesis 1:27-28 states: ‘So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth …’ The DNA code shows God meant for them to stay male and female.”

The second man to file a petition to have his name changed to a female one, prior to his sex change was one James Dean Ingram (why it is that someone with a name like James Dean would want to change it – let alone become a woman is mind boggling).  In a video of his interview with The Oklahoman, he said that he’s not gay, he was just born a female in a male’s body.

James “Angla” Ingram – will still be a guy after the surgery

Ingram has yet to undergo the sexual reassignment surgery but says he’s been living as a woman for a considerable amount of time.  Both he and his boyfriend were shocked at the news, which must mean that even though Ingram claims he’s not gay (even though he’s a man with a boyfriend) – his boyfriend must be.

According to Wikipedia, there are several steps necessary before an individual may undergo sexual reassignment surgery.

  1. Psychological therapy in order to ensure that the individual is sane and mentally well enough to undergo the surgery.
  2. The individual will have to live for a considerable amount of time as a member of the opposite sex.
  3. That same individual must undergo hormone replacement therapy in order to get their physical form to change.
  4. Once all of the above steps are completed, they may then go under the knife and either get something cut off or added to them.

After learning the bad news, Ingram reportedly collapsed outside of the courtroom.  Ingram reportedly told The Oklahoman, “Soon as I was out of the courtroom I collapsed and started to cry … never before have I wanted more to kill myself.”

Not only did this guy seek surgery to have his member cut off, but now he wants to kill himself because a judge won’t let him change his name.  Good thing he passed a psychological evaluation and got a clean bill of mental health, right?
