What’s That Smell? Woman’s Decomposing Body Found In Apartment – But That’s Not The Weird Part!

Posted on October 29, 2012

Colorado (The Gaslamp Post) – Denver police found something strange on October 1, 2012, when investigating numerous “foul smell” complaints made by tenants of an area apartment building.

Officers were not just shocked to find a woman’s body, described as being in an advanced state of decomposition, hunched over in a chair, but her husband and dog sitting near her as if nothing were amiss.  According to KMGH-TV, the couple’s dog, a 1-year-old Great Dane named Lola appeared to be standing guard over the woman’s body.

The woman’s husband, Steven Ford, told police that his wife was “not dead, she’s fine,” when asked how long his wife had been deceased.  They noted that he appeared to have been “out of sorts” at that time.

Police estimate that the woman, Michaela Beth Ford, 32, may have been dead for as long as 10 days, by how much her corpse had decomposed.  The apartment manager said that he recalled last seeing Mrs. Ford about 2 weeks ago.

The matter is still under investigation but Ford has not been charged.
