Did A Mailman Step Over Man’s Body And Just keep Going?

Colorado (The Gaslamp Post) – Neither sleet nor snow, nor rain, nor body in the way, will stay these carriers from their appointed rounds…

Family members of a man found dead on his front steps say that that there is no way their mail carrier made his delivery without seeing the body of their loved one.

Dale Porch

Dale Porch, 46, of West Denver, had reportedly arrived home from working the overnight shift at the Regional Transportation District, when he is believed to have collapsed on his front steps and died.

“My brother-in-law walked up these steps, got to this step here and collapsed,” said Kimberly Cordova, Dale Porch’s sister-in law. She pointed to the mailbox just a few feet away.  “So, the mailman literally was right here, and he was right here collapsed on this step.”

The carrier has been reportedly taken off of the route while the U.S. Postal Service investigates.  They reportedly stand behind their employee’s actions.

According to ABC News Denver, the carrier had reported that he thought that the man’s body was a mannequin or some sort of decoration, left over from Halloween.

The USPS released this statement:

“We know this carrier to be a conscientious and dedicated employee. He is someone who would not fail to help a customer, if he knew they were in need … Our carriers have a long history of assisting customers in neighborhoods across the country, each and every day, and that holds true for our letter carriers here in Denver.

This is a very unfortunate situation and one that probably would not happen any other time of year. We are very sorry for the family’s loss and have conveyed our condolences, and those of the carrier, to the family.”
