Parents Make Unruly Teen Stand In Busy Intersection With Sign

Florida (The Gaslamp Post) – Those without children will never know the joy of humiliating them in public.  We spend years raising them up, and dealing with an occasional upset or outburst which can often times lead to an embarrassing situation.

What parent has never had an uncomfortable incident in public, when their child did or said something, only to catch the attention and stern looks from other parents?

In my day they used to say, “some people’s children…” while shaking their heads.

It’s a relief to know that once they reach a certain age, that the tables will turn.  It’s right about the time that they forget what all you went through trying to bring them up right, the sacrifices you made so that they could have something, and how far you went out of your way for them.

One couple in Palm Coast was having problems with their 15-year-old daughter, and after exhausting just about every other option, they chose to put her out in public with a sign stating why she was there.

The girl’s mother Melinda, said that her daughter had been lying, drinking, and sneaking out.  When they discovered that she had snuck a boy into her room after the family went to bed, that was the last straw.

This past Wednesday, the girl, “Jasmine” was made to stand with a sign at a very busy intersection which read, “I sneak boys in at 3 a.m. and disrespect my parents and grandparents.”

“I’ve taken all her toys or her electronics away; her phone, no privileges on the TV or computer and still she just laughs about it,” said her mother.

“Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” Proverbs 13:24

“We’re trying to stop this before the courts have to do it themselves,” said Mike, the girl’s father.  “This is all about love.  I took my day off of work. I missed out on $300 or $400 today to do this.  You know what I mean, to come and do this.  I love this kid,”
