The United States (The Gaslamp Post) – If you’re one of the many who realizes all the noise about public support for banning this kind of firearm or that kind of firearm, is total horse-pucky, there’s a reason for that. Lately we’re hearing that all of these horrible crimes and murders are occurring because of these evil “assault rifles”, so much so that we must ban them.
“They belong in the battlefield in the hands of soldiers,” says the president. “Who needs these military-style assault weapons? Who needs an ammunition feeding device capable of holding 100 rounds?” asks Sen. Feinstein(D-Ca).
Folks, the next time someone asks you why you need an AR-15 or an AK-47, here’s what you say back to them; because you refuse to protect me. Seriously, look them right in the eye and reply with that statement.
Of course it would seem like a silly response, but is not the question equally as silly? First of all, when they say military-style assault weapon, their issue is with the rifle’s cosmetics. It has absolutely nothing to do with it’s functions. The way that they operate is closer to that of a deer rifle than an actual piece of military hardware. My dad, brothers, uncles, and cousins, along with any other former or currently serving service member will tell you the same thing.
As Glenn Beck put it, the Brady Bill, a.k.a. the 1994 Assault Weapon’s Ban was more of a cool looking rifle ban, than a ban on anything more or less lethal. It was ridiculous, and the manufacturers found ways to continue to produce them and still be in accordance with federal law.
So how many murders are actually committed with these “assault rifles”? Are you ready for this? Drum-roll please…..
In 2010, the last year with available statistics on the matter, rifles only accounted for 358 murders in the United States. That’s not to suggest that any murder is permissible or acceptable, but it is an interesting fact is it not?
What is even more interesting is that the “rifle” category isn’t even broken into sub-categories. What kind of rifles were used in the commissioning of those murders?
Were they bolt-action? Break-opens? Semi-auto? Muzzle loaders? Air powered varmint rifles?
What IS an eye opener is the number of hand guns that were used in murders. 6009 murders were committed in 2010 with hand guns. This also leaves the question, what kind of hand gun?
Revolver? Semi-auto? Target pistol? Muzzle loader? Single-shot (derringers)? I’m sure the banana-heads in Washington are already aware of that number, and are more than likely going to try and do away with hand guns as well.
Hey! Here’s an interesting little factoid for you; Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Ca) is also a concealed-carry permit holder! It’s funny that she thinks that she should be able to carry a weapon to protect herself, but the rest of us shouldn’t.
California, why the hell did you vote her back in again?
