Connecticut (The Gaslamp Post) Credit to Gaslamp Post reader Ted for the lead on this story – The medical examiner who was responsible for performing the autopsies on all of the shooting victims of the Sandy hook massacre has made an unusual request; he wants the DNA of the shooter analyzed. Examiner H. Wayne Carver has reportedly ordered scientists to perform a full investigation into the genome of Adam Lanza, the alleged “lone wolf” shooter, and told them specifically to find “something” in his DNA that would point to his predisposition to violence.
The “evil” gene.
While it would be in the best interest of medical science as well as the general welfare of the American citizens to understand if there is some sort of preemptive measure which would indicate the potential for violent behavior in a human being, it is curious why such a study would be ordered at this time. Was there such a request for an investigation into the DNA strands of alleged “lone wolf” shooter James Holmes? I do not recall any such request of Jared Loughner.
Even though it wouldn’t be unwise to error to the side of caution, and this could very well be one of those moments where we find ourselves thinking better late than never; the timing of such a request should make any American who has been paying attention to recent events skeptical.
According to the Blaze:
Scientists have reportedly been asked to search for an “evil” gene in the DNA of Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed his mother before he opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School, slaughtering 20 children and six adults.
The study, which will be the first of its kind involving a mass murderer, will try to detect any abnormalities in Lanza’s individual DNA, The Daily Mail reports.
Connecticut Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver, who performed all the autopsies on the Sandy Hook victims, reportedly ordered the DNA analysis. He will conduct the study with the help of geneticists at the University of Connecticut.
H. Wayne Carver; the official collegiate voice in the wilderness who has given the official state sponsored statement about what he says really happened, and has made his intentions clear. Find that “evil gene.”
According to Professor Arthur Beaudet of the Baylor College of Medicine, there are certain indicators in the DNA strains of human beings, such as “abnormalities” which can be used to explain “violent behavior”.
“It is known that mutations associated with mental illness, and some of them may increase violent behavior.
I do not think that these mutations explain the behavior of all mass murderers, but some of these genetic abnormalities can cause schizophrenia rates that result in violent behavior.”
While it has been discovered that certain combinations of adenine-thymine and guanine-cytosine (amino acids which make up DNA) patterns may make one more predisposed to say something like polio or schizophrenia, these indicators are only that – predispositions. Other experts in the same field believe that such a search is frivolous, and can’t possibly yield the conclusions that this study is aimed at reaching.
Geneticist Heidi Tissenbaum of the University of Massachusetts says that, “beyond the findings emerging from this research, the answers to this slaughter couldn’t be found only in genetic alterations.” She went on further to say that, ” it would take thousands of DNA tests on thousands of people to look for a pattern of aggressive behavior that is in the genetic changes.”
Another expert in the field whom is having a hard time with the premise of this kind of study is Associate Clinical Professor, Dr. Harold J. Bursztajn. According to Dr. Bursztajn:
“I don’t think the science is there yet…
These investigators don’t even know what they’re looking for, and they’re going on a fishing expedition, casting a wide net,” Bursztajn added, “who knows what sorts of gene mutations will be trapped in this net?”
“We’re always looking to see where murderers fall on the mad spectrum,” said Bursztajn. “While some may have full-blown psychiatric conditions that make them unable to distinguish between right and wrong, others, he added, may simply be “bad people” who are looking to do bad things.”
“It’s when depression becomes psychosis with delusions and hallucinations that we begin to worry,” Bursztajn said.
“I think there are a lot of false promises and false hopes raised in this kind of analysis,” Bursztajn said, “when investigators would be better served by conducting interviews with those who knew the killer best.”
Standing in the face of all of this is the emotional turmoil and pain caused by these recent tragedies. Whenever logic is injected into these tragedies, the talking heads in the mainstream media are quick to jump on those attempting to slow the snow ball effect, as well as those who are applying reason, and wishing to investigate further.
The modes-operandi has been to shred anyone who either comes forward with contrary accounts which refute the “official” story or suggests a logical measure of prevention. At some point in time in recent American history, not only have we experienced tragic loss of life at the hands of madmen, but have forgotten founding father Benjamin Franklin’s words that, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”
While this latest announcement that a government entity is intending to in some way, shape, or form, get to the bottom of this; it is questionable as to the motives and to the timing. While it would be a good idea to determine if there is a connection between genetic disposition and violence, we must not overlook some very obvious problems with this notion.
First of all, as it was previously stated by educated elite that the science is simply “not there yet”, why on earth are we going to go through with it? It would seem as yet another feel good measure which would bear absolutely no fruit, and cost the tax-payer an awful lot of money. Paralleling this statement about the science behind this, is the fact that given the gravity of the reasons behind ordering this study, is the fact that some are willing to simply fabricate the science if the money is right.
Not to diminish the tragic loss of human life and the fracturing effect on the families from losing children, but a well advertised bullshit solution with bureaucrats behind it and much fan-fare is exactly that; bullshit. There is no feel-good solution to this.
Pass out bows and ribbons, make black-and-white commercials against bullying, and get the elected idiots up there with strong sounding speeches; you will still have no results. This study will yield nothing, and it will not fix the problem. No amount of crucifying the person pointing out this no-brainer will make it otherwise.
The reason for this is because America will not address the problem. Rather than actually dealing with the ills of our world, our solution is merely to put band-aids over them. When something goes wrong we talk about it, care about it, and then instead of actually doing what needs to be done we cover it up, sweep it under the rug, and then act surprised when it happens again.
Since the Connecticut massacre, rather than dealing with the root of the problem the broadcasted narrative has been to blame the guns (which require an operator), blame a mindset of preparedness (which has nothing to do with the crime), and blame lax legislation (which is anything BUT lax).
Since no one is saying the obvious, I will say it; anticipation of evil will only make one prepared to face evil when it rears it’s ugly head. Anticipation of evil when evil abounds makes not one paranoid, it makes them wise.
Going back to ol’ Ben Franklin, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.
Since the release of the DSM V (the upgraded version of the DSM IV – which defines all human mental disorders and pathologies) which claims all human emotions are some sort illness, then the announcement of this genetic study which is aimed at finding the “evil” gene; all occurring in the middle of this gun-control business should not be a tough one for anyone with two brain cells to rub together.
Are we facing a day when we are to be required to provide a DNA or blood sample in order to purchase a firearm? Sen. Feinstein is already talking about making all gun owners provide finger prints and register everything that they have.
All of this is aimed at having a catalog of possible suspects in case YOU the law-abiding citizen does something with a gun. If you’ve done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to worry about, right?
Hell, if they’re doing away with the 4th Amendment which is the government shalt not amendment against illegal search and seizure by fingerprinting you before you have committed a crime, what makes you think they won’t go for your DNA?
By trying to isolate something genetic, or dumping money into the anticipation of connecting the dots of something genetic, we’re doing nothing more than trying to create a dog which doesn’t crap. While it may be possible to have a dog which doesn’t mess the lawn someday, it would not make much sense to toss the shovel and plastic grocery bags before that happens.
America, don’t give these bastards an inch!
