Texas (The Gaslamp Post) – A woman in Texarkana demonstrated for her son why you should not play with fire.

Authorities say a woman in northern Texas happened upon a snake while working in the yard.  Intending to kill it, she reportedly retrieved some gasoline and doused the snake with a copious amount of it.

According to CBS-11 in Dallas, her son then dropped a lit match on the snake, which sent it slithering off into some brush.  The flaming serpent then ignited the brush which set the yard, her home, and the neighbor’s unoccupied home on fire.

Her home was reportedly destroyed while the one next door was only damaged.  No injuries were reported.

According to Bowie County Sheriff’s Capt. David Grable, most snakes are harmless if left alone.
