Ooopse! Police Detective Pleads Guilty To DUI After Crashing Patrol Car.

California (Dana Littlefield-UT San Diego) – A San Diego police detective who pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge was placed Monday on probation for five years and ordered to complete 25 days of public work service.

Detective Jeffrey Blackford had faced possible jail time and other penalties as a result of his plea to driving under the influence of alcohol and an allegation of reckless driving, meaning — in part — that he was traveling at least 20 mph over the posted speed limit.

The charges stemmed from an incident in December in which Blackford crashed his unmarked police car into a roadside utility box in Allied Gardens.
